Lifting up Jesus is what
George Foreman, ex-heavyweight boxing champion of the
world is all about today. In the 1968 Olympics at Mexico
City at the age of 19 George Foreman won the Gold Medal
in boxing in the heavyweight division for the United
States. In furthering his career he went on to win the
heavyweight championship title in January, 1973 by
defeating Smokin Joe Frazier by technical knockout in
the second round at Kingston, Jamaica. Today George
preaches “the doctrine of love.”
This live recording, done
on December 17, 1979 and December 18, 1979 has captured
the energy and vitality of George Foreman preaching in
the streets of Houston, Texas. On these two nights in
biting 25 degree weather— one night in a white
neighborhood and one night in a black low income housing
complex George carried his message to the people.
On the first night, as we
left George’s home in a small town just outside Houston
he said to me, “I have to quit at 9:00 P.M. because I
had a dream that the police will show up.” Lo and
behold, at exactly 9:00 P.M. a group of about 20 police
approached and disconnected the power to the sign which
let passersby know that this is George Foreman. It was
truly amazing. George just looked up and smiled. He
didn’t need to ask the time. He knew.
The next day was spent
with George at his home listening and learning. He
discussed God, Truth, The Bible, but most of all Jesus
Christ. When asked his denomination he simply replied,
“Jesus.”
On this album is recorded
the incredible, chilling story of George’s rebirth On
this album you will hear all about his last fight in
1977,* when after the bout he DIED in his dressing room.
Yes, died and was reborn.
On this recording you will
hear George Foreman speak. The man who grew up “waiting
for the next man to beat up.” The man who says that when
he fought he had to have a special referee to “keep him
from hitting a man when he was down.” The man who now
has only love in his heart. Love for everyone, Black,
White, or Yellow. He does no see color—only people, only
love. For everyone, but most of all for Jesus Christ.
This is the story of
George Foreman. Listen to him tell his story. I know you
will feel as if you are right there with HIM.
